A Simple Lifestyle Habit

I don’t know about you, but I love hearing little practical habits that affect someone’s life and help them to thrive.

Do you want to know a way you can cultivate more hope in your life, while recording your thoughts, and dreaming with God?

Then do this:

It’s pretty simple, but more powerful than you may think at first!

1. Buy a notebook/ journal.
2. Write in the front “Dreams.”
3. Start writing down your dreams.

Yes, it’s as simple and easy as that!

This is something I have been doing for a couple years now, well probably longer, but officially a couple of years. Writing down your dreams is such a powerful habit to have. I’m not talking about the dreams you have in the night, (Although it’s great to write those down too) I’m talking about the desires of your heart kind of dreams..

You may find it hard to do at first, but don’t worry about that. It’s an excersize, that you’ll get better at, just keep going. I promise it will get easier.  The key when you start, is to just to write down anything you can think of that is a desire

Here are some questions that could get you thinking about what your dreams are:

  • What is a city you would like to visit?
  • What is something you would like to do?
  • What is something you want to learn/ learn about?
  • Who is someone you would like to meet?
  •  What is something you would like to own?
  • What is something you want to see changed?
  • What is a place you would like to see?

I find when I just start writing down anything I can think of at first, even when it’s hard, it just begins to flow very quickly. Before you know it you can’t write everything down fast enough. The more you do it, the easier it will become.

When I am recording my dreams, I am feasting on hope & the goodness of God. It’s not a big wish list, it’s a conversation with Jesus. Invite Him in, He knows your desires more than you even do. Pour your heart out to Him, ask Him questions, feel His affection for you.

Before you write your dreams down, begin with the date. You’ll love being able to look back and see what desires of yours change & stay the same through different seasons. You will learn a lot about yourself this way.

So I dare you, start writing your dreams down.
Make a never ending list of dreams. Start small and  push yourself to dream bigger. Feast on hope & the goodness of God. You will see dreams come true, but first know what they even are, so when you see them, you won’t miss them.
