Create? Just because.

Did you know that creativity and life go hand in hand?

I thrive on having creative time. My creative time doesn’t look like me sitting down and leaving with some master piece, ready to sell. (Most of the time.) It looks like me sitting down and spreading out, either on the bed or on the floor. First of all, I create a space that inspires me, that is my first creative outlet. I light scented candles, I put whatever music on that I am loving at that moment, I lay out things that inspire me, (for example, my Darling magazine, a book, flowers, something pretty, whatever it may be.) I will drink coffee, because why not? I create a space that makes me the most comfortable, passionate & creatively-inspired. It is an environment of flourishing. Find whatever makes you feel the most comfortable & inspired. It could be going for a walk, going to the beach, a cafe, a bookstore, going on a drive or whatever is your happy place, go there, create that.

I will just basically do whatever I want to do in that time. I do whatever has inspiration on it. I will draw, write blogs, write lists, journal, attempt calligraphy, decorate my room, put an outfit together, read blogs, take photos, just enjoy the prettiness & coziness of the space, dream, write down all of my endless ideas or just simply Pinterest binge.

I spend my creative time doing what I enjoy. 

This time makes me feel so alive, so refreshed and so inspired. Life is creative. Creativity is life. See? They go hand in hand. Life is creative because life was created by God, we were made in His image, He is the creator, we are creative, so when I spend time just being creative, for the sake of being creative, I feel alive. I feel His presence, because creativity is God’s idea, and it is natural for human beings.

Creativity is natural. The outlets are endless. 

Your creativity is endless. We need to stop putting creativity into a box, well more specifically a “craft box.” Yes, it is true that some people are more creatively inclined, but everyone is creative. Wether it comes down to strategic thinking, conversation, experimenting, cooking, planning, organising or networking. Seriously, I could go on forever!! These are all highly creative activities. Creativity is so much more than crafting!

Creativity is God’s idea! 

Creativity is not about perfection and creating something “Instagram-worthy.”
Seriously, that’s just a trap. We create because we are creative and we are children of the creator! God created Adam out of the dust. He saw the dirt and created beauty. What do you see in your life that may look like dirt, but is actually the ultimate canvas for beauty?

Beauty for ashes. 

People, stop not being creative out of the fear of not creating something worth telling people about or something that isn’t pretty enough. If an activity makes you feel inspired and full of life, then you should do that. I’m not saying you should necessarily put it on “display,” but I am saying though that you should enjoy it! Don’t let the fear of creativity; the fear of not being good enough or not creating anything good enough ever stop you from creating!

The biggest enemy of creativity is perfection. That is just fear. 

This is something that often people who “create” as a job can easily forget to do, because it is about the finished product. Professional creatives, It is so important that you have “run wild” creative time for you. A time where you just create for the sake of creating. Do whatever has inspiration and life on it, with no fear of how it’s going to turn out. I promise it will benefit your whole life, because you will suddenly feel alive and refreshed meaning, everything you do will then be better. Your time is not wasted if it revives your passion for creativity.

Create, just because.

We have missed the point of creativity if we are only doing it to have something to put on display. A lot of creativity Is about the process, so just enjoy it people!

You are creative, so create. Watch how you come alive, feel the passion, see how dreams within you arise, soak in His presence, follow Him, let go of fear, enjoy the process and stop letting perfectionism stop you from starting, just hang out with Jesus. He is life. You were created to be full of life, inspiration & passion. He will show you the way.
