Nineteen Things I’ve Learnt Before Turning 19
This week is my birthday week and you may remember that last year around my birthday I made a post about Eighteen Things I Have Learnt Before Turning 18 and well I really enjoyed that, so I decided to do a 19 Things list! (Yes, I know the creativity in the title is astounding.)
So, in no particular order here are Nineteen things that I have learnt before turning 19!
Enjoy!
1. The number one place to pour your time into is in being with Jesus.
Really. There is no better place than being with Him. It has nothing to do with what you are doing, although certain things are great to do, it’s all about being in communion with Him. Inviting His thoughts into our thoughts, worshipping, learning, growing, sharing our dreams, fears and desires with Him. It’s taking time out of your day to just love on Jesus. It’s the greatest! He is so so so crazy beautiful.
2. Don’t spend all your time on Netflix. Be creative!
The irony of this is it’s coming from me, I love movies and good shows. There’s something so sweet & good for your soul though about doing other things like, painting, baking, walking, creating, playing a board game with a friend, writing whatever it is take time to enjoy something that is unplugged.
3. It’s not by might, or by power, but by His spirit.
This is a big one!! If you feel like you “can’t do it” anymore, it means you’ve been using your own strength and might. Woah! You are right, you can’t do it, but it’s not meant to be our strength, it’s only by His spirit. If it only by His spirit, then we will always fail when we try in our own strength. If it is by His spirit, then we need More of Him! Holy Spirit come!
4. Read the bible.
It’s the living word. Read it. Fill yourself with Truth and ask God to speak to you while you’re reading! The more you read the bible the more you’ll love it! The bible is a gift! Let’s receive the gift!
5. Know yourself.
When you know what refuels, what exhausts you, what helps you to be your best ect. You can adjust accordingly and live well! Even down to how much sleep you need to feel your best, what things make you feel good when you eat them, what relaxes you, what things in your life you need more of and less of. Knowing yourself helps so much! As long as you remember that you are not a slave to yourself and your desires. Bring it all to Jesus and be lead by Him, that’s what it looks like to prioritise His presence!
6. Worship is the key, worship is my destiny.
You are your truest self when you worship!
We were designed as vessels of His presence and for all eternity we will be worshipping God! He is so worthy of our highest praise!
7. You are always capable of more than you think you are.
You are stronger and braver than you think! Your capacity is greater than you believe.
8. Take time to learn.
Never stop learning!
Take time to learn more about something you are interested in!
9. Revival has a price & it’s worth it.
Everything has a price, everyone is paying a price for something. What are you living for? What are you paying a price for?
The price of revival is so worth it!
“It is no sacrifice, Here’s my life.”
10. You are who you are & who you are is amazing!
Don’t ever compare yourself to another. You are on your own journey. You are who you are and you are amazing! Always be you. Don’t adjust yourself according to who is surrounding you. If you see someone as greater than you, celebrate them! Be confident in who you are! Don’t shy away, don’t think you know it all, just be confident in who you are. Don’t compare yourself, because you are just you. You don’t become greater around lesser people, or lesser around greater people. You are you, so stand confident and don’t compare. You are you & you are amazing!
11. Intentionally have fun!
Make time for it. If you see something that could be fun, just do it. Have fun! Go on a road trip, go to a theme park, go to the beach with your friends. Just have some fun!
12. You are not what you do.
Who you are is far greater than what you could ever do.
You are a child of God who is radically, extravagantly loved by Him & carries a unique aspect of His glory! That is a billion times better than any thing you could do or any other title you could have!
13. Life is a never-ending process, so stop waiting for the process to end & see the beauty now.
It says it all! Love the process. Be thankful now, see the beauty in the midst of everything!
14. The greatest thing you can do when you experience tension is surrender.
Just like when you grow, you get growing pains. The tension of life, tension within yourself or just general discomfort can be the pains of your growth. Sometimes when people experience tension they think it means they are doing the wrong thing and then they get bitter, which hinders the beauty of growth. When you feel tension, surrender. Don’t try and understand, just trust Jesus and keep going.
“Keep going, keep growing.”
15. The enemy only has lies.
I had this revelation when I was younger & suddenly realised, and thought to myself, “woah, the enemy has no power at all but lies.” He deceives. That is literally the only thing He can do. So dwell on/in Truth and rebuke the lies in Jesus name!
16. Praying in tongues is powerful!
Seriously, it’s a weapon. Use it!
17. If you want to grow in hearing the voice of God, spend more time listening.
Ask God to speak and spend the time just listening, ask Him questions, whatever it looks like just a mow the time for it! You will always hear Him more when you intentionally listen & ask Him to speak. The same goes with anything, if you want to see people healed when you pray for them, pray for more sick people.
18. Perseverance & courage goes a long way!
(The enemy tries to steal your fight, because if you fight, you win.)
Ask God for perseverance & courage!
“If you don’t quit, you win.”
19. Live in awe & wonder!
Do you know God is childlike, fun & passionate?! He is creative and the definition of beauty. Live seeing through His eyes and ask Him for more childlike wonder & awe! To admire beauty, is to worship Him.
Bless ya’ll!
