The More of God
HELLO,
So you just read the title, “The more of God,” and chances are, you’re asking yourself one or all of these questions:
What is ‘The more’?
How do we get it?
Why do we want it?
Well, the more of God is simply that, the more of God. It is everything we haven’t experienced yet, everything we haven’t seen, everything we haven’t heard, it is simply the knowledge that there is in fact more for us to experience..
Knowing there is more is what keeps us pressing in, It’s why we continue to seek the Lord and go after the greater things. We seek because we know there is something to find. We are not aimlessly wandering in the hopes of finding something that possibly might be there, We are going and getting something that God has placed there for us to find.
At the moment, my church (Pour It Out Church, on the Sunshine Coast) is experiencing Revival. This is a time where we are continually experiencing the more of God, every single day. The more people have the more they want and the great thing is that there is always more. God actually placed this desire for more within us, so that we would continue to seek Him. Our God is eternal, so He never runs out, meaning – There is always more. When we seek Him, we experience more of Him and the more we seek, the more we find, the more we find, the more we seek… It’s a beautiful cycle. This isn’t about God hiding himself from us or anything like that. It’s just like when someone plays hide and seek with a child,They only hide in places that they know the child will find them. God is not cruel. He is a Good Father, He places “the more” within our reach, but it is our job to go and get it! it’s a joyful thing, just like hide and seek is a game..
The main key to experiencing more, is hunger and passion. There’s a song called ‘Soul Cry’ by Misty Edwards, that we sing at church and it has the lyrics in it, “Hunger is an escort to the deeper things of you.” Hunger is what keeps us seeking. It’s what causes us to keep going, to keep pursuing Him.
When we become complacent, we lose hunger, we stop seeking, meaning we stop moving. Complacency stops people from going deeper, They’re not moving and what happens to water when it stops moving? It becomes stagnant. That is why it is so important that we are continually seeking Him and going after the more, because when we stop hungering after the more, we stop seeking the more, so theoretically we stop moving, out of complacency and we ourselves become stagnant and that’s just gross!
The great thing is, that it’s so easy to get hungry for God. It’s not like food, where to be hungry, you need to stop eating until you’re hungry again, It’s like water, to get thirsty, you drink. The more you have, the more you want. When you taste a little bit, You cannot help but want more. So, taste and see that He is good.
Spend time with Him, seek Him, pray, worship, soak in His presence, get yourself around other people that are hungry for God and pursuing his presence. Come to Revival! If you keep doing any or all of these things, you will find yourself to be hungry, passionate and on fire in no time!
There really is so much more for us to experience! I am personally finding myself experiencing more of Him on a regular basis and let me tell you, it only get’s better and better. Just like the Bible says we get to go from Glory to Glory. Higher and higher. Deeper and deeper.
So, let’s live in a place of being thankful for what we have experienced of God, but not satisfied and let’s continue to go after the more because it really is so worth it.
Keely Hughes.
